چکیده

The aim of this study was to identify aflatoxin producing fungi from affected corn and peanut samples collected from the storage godowns. Fungi were isolated from corn and peanuts using potato dextrose agar and modified rose bengal agar. The pure culture of the isolates were grown on differential media namely malt extract agar, czapek yeast extract agar and czapek dox agar for species identification using macro morphological characteristics. Lacto phenol cotton blue stains were used to identify fungal microscopic structures. All the fungi belonged to Aspergillus species. The fungal isolates were tested for aflatoxin producing ability. Out of the five different Aspergillus species isolated, two species namely A.flavus and A.parasiticus producedaflatoxin in the Aspergillus flavus parasiticus agar medium (AFPA) and Aspergillus differentiation medium (ADM).Early detection may help to bring in early management and

Identification of Toxigenic Aspergillus Species from Rice of Khuzestan and Mycotoxins in Imported Cereals

Background: Due to their high amount of carbohydrate and enough moisture, cereals are a good environment for the growth of toxigenic fungi. Because of the carcinogenicity and mutagenicity of mycotoxins, preventing them from entering the food chain is essential. Therefore, the present study was conducted to determine the amount and type of contaminated imported cereals and rice produced in Khuze...

Studies on Aspergillus Section Flavi from Peanut in Iran

During 2010 and 2011, Aspergillus species from section Flavi were isolated from rhizosphere in main peanut-growing region of Iran, Astaneh-e Ashrafiyeh, Guilan Province (northern Iran). The soil samples were taken from fruiting zone of peanuts in 3 districts and 10 locations, during the pod-filling period. The populations of Aspergillus section Flavi showed significant differences in cfu g-1 am...

ASPERGILLUS SPECIES ISOLATED FROM PISTACHIO AND DETERMINATION OF THEIR AFLATOXIN PRODUCTION

Aflatoxins are the most serious problem in production and export of pistachio of Iran. They are amongst the most toxic mycotoxins and are produced predominantly by Aspergillus flavus and A. parasiticus. Pistachio is susceptible to invasion by aflatoxigenic Aspergillus species and subsequent production of aflatoxins, during preharvesting, processing, transportation or storage. Various methods ha...

Molecular identification of aflatoxigenic Aspergillus species in feedstuff samples

Background and Purpose: Aflatoxins are naturally produced by some species of Aspergillus, such as A. flavus and A. parasiticus. Aflatoxins reportedly have carcinogenic effects on human, poultry, and livestock, and therefore could be linked to severe human illnesses. Aflatoxin biosynthesis pathway involves different clustered genes, including structural, regular, and unassigned genes. The presen...

Optimization of process parameters for production of lipase in solid-state fermentation by newly isolated Aspergillus species

Of the 34 fungal species, isolated from a number of oily substrates, 9 exhibited lipase activity. AU 15, identified as Aspergillus sp., was found to be excellent lipase producer in submerged fermentation and was selected for solid-state fermentation (SSF). Among substrates like oil cakes of coconut, groundnut and sesame, wheat rawa, bombay rawa and soya beans (crushed), wheat rawa showed the hi...
